Visas and Permits

To enter Canada and obtain temporary resident status, visitors are required to possess a temporary resident visa (TRV).

Visitor Visa

The Canadian visitor visa enables the holder to travel to Canada for various purposes, including  tourism, business visits or visiting family and friends.

To qualify for a Visitor Visa, applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

1. Financial Sufficiency: Applicants need to provide evidence that they have adequate funds to cover the expenses of their visit to Canada and to return to their home country.

2. Strong Ties to Home Country: Applicants must demonstrate strong ties to their home country to ensure that they have a genuine intention to return after their visit. This can be established through various factors, such as family, employment, property ownership, educational commitments, or community involvement.

3. Good Health: Applicants are generally required to be in good health when applying for a Visitor Visa.

Meeting these criteria is crucial in establishing the eligibility for a Visitor Visa to Canada. It demonstrates the applicant's ability to finance their visit, the intention to return to their home country, and their overall health condition, ensuring a smooth and successful visa application process.

Super visa

The Super Visa is a temporary visa granted to parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada. It allows them to visit Canada as visitors for an uninterrupted period of up to five years from their initial entry, eliminating the need to renew their status. This multi-entry visa permits multiple visits over a span of up to 10 years.

Work Permit

A work permit is an official authorization that allows individuals who are not citizens or permanent residents of Canada to legally work here. It is a document issued by the government, granting permission for a specific individual to engage in employment activities for a designated period of time.

Work permits are typically tied to a specific job offer from an employer who is willing to sponsor the applicant. The permit outlines the terms and conditions of the employment, such as the duration of the permit, the specific job or occupation allowed, and any restrictions or conditions that must be adhered to.

There are different types of work permits.

A post-graduate student work permit (PGWP) is a valuable opportunity for international students who have completed a recognized post-secondary program in Canada. The PGWP allows them to gain practical work experience in Canada after graduation. This work permit is open, meaning it is not limited to a specific employer or job. It provides the flexibility for students to explore various employment opportunities related to their field of study, enhancing their skills and knowledge while contributing to the Canadian workforce.

The PGWP is typically issued for a duration equivalent to the length of the study program, up to a maximum of three years.

Open work permit

Open work permits are typically issued to specific groups of individuals, such as spouses or common-law partners of international students or skilled workers, international graduates, or individuals in the process of applying for permanent residency. This type of permit provides flexibility and allows individuals to explore different employment opportunities, change jobs, or work multiple part-time jobs concurrently.
